The first trout competition of the season took place on Sunday 08th March. This competition was held on lough Ree. Weather conditions was poor with fresh and gusty westerly winds, and water levels were high. On the day 1st place went to Martin Mc Caffrey & Noel Monaghan. 2nd place went to Richie Fallon & Paul Fallon. 3rd place went to Brian Mullins. 4th place went to Jinks Wykes. 5th place went to John Naughton & Philip Lennon.
Our thanks to Michael Murphy, Coosan Tavern for refreshments and for his generous sponsorship of this competition and thanks also to Pat McCallon and Richie Fallon who were captains of the day. Raffle winner was Gerry Wykes & Gabriel Wykes. 24 boats took part.
