Lough Ree Pike Festival 2018 Now taking Applications !!

 

The Lough Ree International Pike Festival and World Cup for 2018 is now open for applications, the festival will take place on the 18th, 19th and 20th April 2018

The application form is now available from the following locations Anthony Quinn Shannonside Tackle Shop Athlone, Wildhunter Tackle Shop Athlone, Total Outdoors Tackle Shop Friars Mill Road Mullingar or you can download it from the www.athloneanglersassociation.ie website. No entry will be confirmed until the fully completed application form along with the appropriate fee have been approved by the commitee and the applicants will then be notified by text message that their application has been received and accepted. Applications will only be accepted on the Official 2018 Lough Ree International Pike Festival and World Cup Apllication Form.

There has been some slight changes to the rule in relation to how the pike is held on the board and the change to the rule is as follows;

4.The angler or companion will hold the fish carefully with only one hand placed on the pike’s body with the numbered tag clearly visible on the board.   (An example photograph will be included in your angling pack). Only one hand may be used to keep the fish in place; it should be placed lightly upon the fish and the hand should not be gripping, squeezing or stretching the fish in a manner that is likely to cause damage to or adversely increase the length of the fish and only fish measured in this manner will be counted. THIS RULE WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED

5.The hand should not be placed anywhere on the head of the pike and the pikes eye should be visible in the photograph and the hand should not be near the tail or holding the tail in order to achieve extra length. THIS RULE WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED
